An Alexandrite laser has a wavelength of 755 nm which makes it highly effective for targeting melanin, the pigment found in hair and certain skin lesions. Its ability to deliver high-energy pulses to melanin-rich areas allows for precise treatment of hair removal and pigmented lesions. This selective approach minimizes damage to surrounding tissue and enhances comfort and safety.
The Alexandrite laser can treat multiple areas, including the:

Treatments typically feel like quick pinching or snapping sensations. We offer topical or injectable anesthetics and cryogen spray or cooling air to ease discomfort throughout the procedure.
You may experience swelling, redness, and tenderness around the treatment sites, but these side effects typically subside within 24 hours. You can use over the counter hydrocortisone cream twice daily to the treated area to alleviate these symptoms. Expect minor darkening or crusting of brown spots for a few days after treatment.
The number of treatment sessions depends on what we are treating. Most skin concerns treated with the Alexandrite laser require at least three sessions, spaced a few weeks apart, to enjoy long-lasting results. Your dermatologist will recommend the number of treatments that are best for your skin type and concern.
Results from laser hair removal with the Alexandrite laser can last for several years, but your dermatologist may recommend maintenance treatments. Results from treating tattoos or pigmented lesions usually last forever.
