Visible veins are not typically a severe medical concern, but they can be a significant cosmetic nuisance. Veins that appear on the face could be due to a variety of factors, including sun exposure, skin trauma, conditions like rosacea, and the aging process.

Sclerotherapy

CLDerm’s San Diego-based doctors are highly-experienced sclerotherapy experts who can help reduce the appearance of problematic veins.

Vein Treatments

Safely and effectively remove unwanted veins with the help of sclerotherapy, phlebectomy, and other vein treatments offered at CLDerm.

Laser Vein Removal

Varicose veins and spider veins generally affect the face, legs, feet, and hands. Laser vein removal is a non-surgical procedure with little downtime and minimal side effects.

Phlebectomy

Phlebectomy is a minimally invasive treatment to remove large varicose veins, a condition that’s common in older individuals.

CoolTouch CTEV

The CoolTouch CTEV is a minimally-invasive way to eliminate stubborn and cosmetically undesirable varicose veins.

CoolTouch Varia

With the CoolTouch™ Varia, CLDerm is able to safely, easily, and effectively treat fine lines, wrinkles, and unsightly facial spider veins.

Facial veins are usually treated with a laser device. The CoolTouch Varia is the treatment of choice for vessels around the eye, while a pulse dye laser such as the Vbeam Perfecta targets other facial veins. Intense pulsed light (IPL) is another option for visible vessels on the face. These devices target the blood inside the veins to coagulate the vessel and eliminate it.

Leg veins are often caused by a vascular condition known as chronic venous insufficiency or CVI. CVI occurs when tiny valves inside the vein become damaged over time. These valves usually are responsible for keeping blood flowing in a single direction back to the heart. When they don’t work correctly, blood can start to pool in the veins, leading to swelling and the formation of varicose veins.

We have numerous options for treating both spider and varicose veins on the legs and other areas of the body. Smaller, superficial veins often respond well to lasers like the Vbeam or IPL. Sclerotherapy is the treatment of choice for spider and smaller varicose veins, while phlebectomy is reserved for larger varicose veins. We also use the CoolTouch CTEV, which ablates veins from the inside out painlessly and with little downtime afterward. Our skin experts also have expertise in vein treatments so that we can customize your procedure to your precise needs for the best possible results.
