A good number of women suffer from the effects of a loose vagina at some point during their lifetime. Various factors cause a vagina to lose its firmness, including aging and childbirth. These and other factors lead to excessive relaxation of the vaginal muscles, thereby reducing sensation and satisfaction during sexual intercourse. Fortunately, women have a variety of treatment options that they can choose from. The premier vaginal tightening treatment option that many women choose is ThermiVa for vaginal rejuvenation.

The board-certified dermatologists at Cosmetic Laser Dermatology remain at the forefront of cosmetic dermatological treatments, taking part in many studies at our own fully-equipped research center. With more than 50 laser, light, and energy devices, our team can provide patients with the best treatment for their needs and goals.

What is ThermiVa?

Unlike surgical treatment methods, which could involve potentially serious complications, ThermiVa is a non-surgical, non-invasive labiaplasty alternative that is well tolerated. It is a temperature-controlled treatment process that safely and efficiently uses radiofrequency energy to tighten both the inner vaginal canal and the outer labia. It can restore sexual pleasure caused by laxity in the vaginal canal and even the appearance of the vagina.

Am I a Candidate for ThermiVa?

Almost every woman can benefit from ThermiVa treatment, but this treatment is particularly recommended if you have any of the following conditions:

  • Dryness during intercourse
  • Sexual dissatisfaction/orgasm problems
  • Vaginal laxity
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Pelvic prolapse such as fallen rectum or bladder
  • Dissatisfaction with the appearance of your labia
  • Leakage when exercising, sneezing, or coughing

How Vaginal Tightening Works

ThermiVa is a curved, non-invasive device that is FDA-approved to tighten loose skin. It is the first and most efficient device that is being used as a labiaplasty alternative in restoring an enlarged labia or loose and stretched vaginal tissue. The treatment works by applying heat to the targeted tissue, thereby promoting collagen production to tighten and strengthen the skin and tissue of the vagina. This controlled thermal energy is used internally to compress the vaginal walls or externally to modify the shape of the labia.

During the treatment, one of our highly trained physicians or our physician assistant at Cosmetic Laser Dermatology will use the ThermiVa handpiece to contract the internal and external vulvovaginal tissues. The doctor passes the tip of the treatment probe over the desired zone of therapy back and forth with broad sweeps and slowly for a couple of minutes. This way, the tissue is gradually heated to a therapeutically desired degree to induce collagen building and tightening. Throughout the procedure, temperature is monitored to ensure safety and consistent results. Note that the curvy nature of the ThermiVa device enables the whole procedure to be relatively comfortable. Past patients have even described the treatment’s sensation to be like a gentle and warm massage.

ThermiVa Treatment Plan

A complete ThermiVa procedure typically involves three separate procedures, each of which is 4-6 weeks apart. Though multiple treatments are commonly recommended, some patients achieve their desired results after the first or second session. If you undergo the three-treatment series for optimal results, it takes just three months to complete the treatment program. Each treatment session lasts for about 30 minutes.

During the procedure, the vaginal area will feel warm but comfortable. There may be temporary redness or mild swelling, but you should be able to resume your daily activities, including sexual intercourse, immediately after you are treated.

ThermiVa Results

The visible effect of ThermiVa is a rejuvenated appearance of the labia. Other improvements may include increased sensitivity, urinary leakage elimination, and improved lubrication. The patients who lacked clitoral sensitivity and took longer to achieve orgasms before the treatment often realize heightened sensitivity in both the vulva and clitoris. Those who had incontinence notice reduced or fully eliminated leakages. And those who relied on lubricants due to atrophic vaginitis report improved moisture in their vagina.

The tightening of the vagina is usually visible immediately after the first procedure with increased effects after undergoing more sessions. However, the most recognizable improvements are noticeable after about 10 days from the first treatment. The full manifestation of the treatment may take a few months, but the effects can last about 9-12 months, meaning that you should have maintenance treatments once or twice a year after the first series to ensure your optimal results continue indefinitely.

The benefits of ThermiVa include the following:

  • Promotes collagen production, which forms smoother and tighter skin
  • Takes only 30 minutes to perform treatments for the vagina and loose labia
  • Helps reduce leaky bladder
  • Does not cause infections, blisters, burns, or organ/nerve damage
  • Does not require delays in sexual activity
  • Offers a non-surgical, non-ablative alternative to labiaplasty
  • Does not produce discharge/bad odor

If you are suffering from intercourse related problems such as low libido, lack of sexual desire, vaginal firmness, or sexual discontent, then this effective procedure could improve your situation.
