Take5 and Take10 are both exclusive combination treatments at Cosmetic Laser Dermatology, but they differ in intensity and recovery time. Take10 is our most comprehensive treatment, combining resurfacing lasers for dramatic rejuvenation with 10-14 days of downtime, including some bleeding and crusting during healing. Take5 uses only non-ablative lasers, providing excellent results with just 5 days of social downtime and no bleeding or crusting.

Take10 can take 10+ years off of your face in a single session, while Take5 can take 5+ years off of your face in a single treatment.

Take10 is ideal as an initial treatment for maximum correction, while Take5 serves perfectly as a maintenance treatment every 2-5 years after Take10, or as a standalone option for those who want significant improvement but without the extended recovery time or increased cost of a Take10. 

Take5 combines fractionated ablative and non-ablative lasers to improve tone, texture, pigmentation, and fine lines without the extended downtime of fully ablative resurfacing.

After Take5, you can expect redness and mild swelling that typically resolves within 3-5 days. Unlike ablative resurfacing treatments, there’s no bleeding, oozing, or crusting. Most patients can return to work with makeup after 1-3 days.

Results can last for years depending on sun protection, skin care, and maintenance treatments such as IPL, Clear + Brilliant, or 3DMIRACL every 6 months.

While Take5 improves skin quality and provides some tightening through collagen and elastic fiber stimulation, it’s not primarily designed for significant skin laxity. For more dramatic lifting and tightening, we may recommend combining Take5 with treatments like ThermiSculpt, Ultherapy, Sofwave, or Thermage FLX, or progressing to our Take10 treatment.

Yes! Take5 excels at improving skin texture through its multi-laser approach. The combination of technologies like Fraxel Dual and Clear + Brilliant specifically targets textural irregularities, enlarged pores, and surface imperfections, resulting in smoother, more refined skin without the downtime of traditional resurfacing.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a specialized treatment that involves breathing 100% pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber. This increased pressure allows your lungs to gather more oxygen than breathing pure oxygen at normal air pressure, promoting healing and rejuvenation by increasing oxygen delivery to tissues throughout your body. We are strong advocates for the benefits of hyperbaric chamber treatment to enhance healing after laser resurfacing procedures.

HBOT accelerates healing in patients undergoing laser skin resurfacing by reducing pain, swelling, and inflammation in tissues, and also has an antibacterial effect. The therapy dramatically increases circulating stem cells by eightfold, which are crucial to the repair of injured tissues, while reducing post-surgical bruising and inflammation. Clinical studies have shown that patients receiving HBOT after cosmetic procedures experience significantly shorter wound healing times, with healing occurring in an average of 13.3 days compared to 36.9 days without HBOT.

For our laser resurfacing patients, we have developed a specialized post-operative HBOT protocol in partnership with the San Diego Hyperbaric Treatment Center, located in Claremont Mesa approximately 7.5 miles from our office. The protocol involves 3 sessions following your laser resurfacing procedure on post-operative days 1, 2, and 3, with each session lasting 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours at a cost of $215 per session (pricing subject to change). Sessions are voluntary but strongly recommended, and patients are responsible for payment of HBOT sessions.

Most patients undergoing laser resurfacing procedures are excellent candidates for HBOT, though certain conditions may prevent treatment including asthma and other pulmonary conditions, collapsed lung, recent ear surgery, or active fever or cold.
