Liposuction procedures are minimally-invasive in which excess fat is removed through a small cannula in order to better contour the body or face. Tumescent liposuction involves only local anesthesia, and the recovery time is much less than that of traditional liposuction. However, some people do not like to undergo even minimally invasive procedures such as tumescent liposuction. For these people, there are “non-invasive lipo” options. Treatments such as CoolSculpting are not technically liposuction – they do not physically remove fat from the body. Instead, using advanced technology, these treatments target and kill fat cells completely non-invasively, leaving the destroyed fat cells to be safely absorbed by the body and causing significant reduction in the circumference of whichever area was treated.

Non-Invasive Lipo

The most popular non-invasive body contouring procedure is CoolSculpting, which uses fat freezing technology to destroy fat cells. Other options include Vanquish, which uses radiofrequency technology. All of these procedures selectively target and kill fat cells in order to reduce the appearance of unwanted fat bulges. The most popular areas to be treated are the abdomen, love handles, and thighs, although they can also be used on the arms. For fat underneath the chin, there is now a non-invasive option as well: Kybella by Kythera is an injectable treatment that uses deoxychoate acid to kill submental fat cells and completely non-invasively reduce the appearance of a double chin.

Many men and women in today’s busy society do not have the time to spare for lengthy recovery times such as are required for liposuction. These non-invasive fat reduction treatments are a great option for busy men and women who want to reduce their fat without needing to undergo anesthesia or rest for weeks.
