Your Laser Hair Removal Experience in San Diego
When you come in for your appointment, the treatment area will be cleaned, and a numbing cream can be applied to help further minimize discomfort. We will use the device to target hair follicles with an intense pulsating beam of light, selectively zeroing in on melanin, a dark pigment found in the hair. The laser finds its way into the follicle, heating it until it is destroyed but leaving the surrounding skin undamaged. Cold air or cryogen spray will be utilized during treatment for your comfort.
You can typically return to your daily routine immediately after the procedure. You may experience mild side effects like inflammation, swelling, stinging or tingling, redness around the hair follicles, and tenderness, but they should subside within a week. After treatment, follow the directions provided by your laser hair removal specialist.
In general, we recommend avoiding the sun for 3-4 days and applying ice bags or compresses to treat side effects and discomfort. We will provide further instructions or treatments if unexpected side effects emerge. You’ll most likely need at least 3-5 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart to get significant results. Although laser treatment does not result in permanent hair removal, it drastically reduces hair growth. Occasional touch-up treatments may be required.

Who is a Candidate for Laser Hair Removal in San Diego?
Individuals with light skin and dark hair are generally considered to be the best candidates. We’ve found that if you have gray hair, fine blonde hair, or red hair, the effects may not be as consistent or effective due to the lack of melanin content in the hair of these colors.
In general, you should undergo treatment with the palest skin possible. We recommend avoiding unnecessary sun exposure and tanning beds in the 2-4 weeks before the procedure.

FAQ
We were recently named one of San Diego’s best laser hair removal services by Expertise.com. Unlike many other practices, we can remove hair from patients of all skin types and tones thanks to our wide range of advanced laser and light devices. With over 200 years of combined experience, we have the expertise to treat any skin type safely.
Our devices can remove unwanted hair from nearly any area of the body, including face, neck, bikini area, abdomen, arms, back, and legs. We can precisely clear large areas of unwanted hair while selectively targeting dark hair and leaving surrounding skin untouched.
During laser hair removal, a laser targets the pigment found at the base and the stem cell-rich bulge of the follicles during hair growth cycles. These pigments absorb the laser’s energy, inhibiting follicle growth and removing unwanted hair while leaving surrounding skin undamaged.
Laser hair removal is minimally painful. You can expect a sensation like the snapping of a rubber band against your skin, but overall, this procedure is well-tolerated. We use cold air or cryogen spray during treatment for comfort, and numbing cream can be applied if desired.
You’ll most likely need at least 3-5 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart to get significant results. Multiple sessions are needed because not all hair follicles have the same growth cycle, and the laser is most effective during the active growth phase.
You can typically return to your daily routine immediately after the procedure. You may experience mild side effects like inflammation, swelling, redness, or tenderness, but these should subside within a week. We recommend avoiding sun exposure for 3-4 days and applying ice if needed.
Individuals with light skin and dark hair are generally the best candidates. However, our selection of advanced laser devices allows us to treat almost any skin type and hair color. Gray, fine blonde, or red hair may be less responsive due to lower melanin content.
You should undergo treatment with the palest skin possible – avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for 2-4 weeks before treatment. The treatment area must be clean-shaven, and avoid waxing, plucking, or tweezing for 4 weeks prior to treatment, as these remove the hair root that the laser targets.
