What is a Fraxel Laser?

The Fraxel® Dual laser is a fractionated laser device that creates micro-injuries in the skin to trigger the body’s production of collagen and elastic fibers while stimulating cell renewal. This healing process results in skin that is clearer, smoother, and more youthful.

Fractional lasers offer the advantage of working superficially or deeply into the dermal structure of the skin while leaving surrounding skin and tissue intact. Because the device only treats a fraction of the skin at one time, we can achieve dramatic improvement with less downtime after treatment.

What is Restore Dual?

The Fraxel Dual combines two different wavelengths to address skin rejuvenation:

• Erbium 1550 nm wavelength – stimulates the production of collagen and elastic fibers. This wavelength is effective in addressing fine lines and wrinkles, as well as uneven skin tone and texture.
• Thulium 1927 nm wavelength – targets troublesome pigmented areas, making it an excellent choice for brown spots. This laser also addresses fine lines and other signs of sun damage.

How Fraxel Non-Ablative Laser Resurfacing Works

What sets the Fraxel Dual laser apart from its competitors is its ability to harness the efficacy of ablative treatments with the safety of non-ablative treatments.

Its two settings — the 1927 and 1550 wavelengths — target different areas of the skin for comprehensive rejuvenation with minimal downtime. 

1927 Wavelength

The first setting utilizes a 1927 wavelength that carefully removes and rejuvenates the surface layer of the skin, which routinely incurs damage from the sun, cosmetics, and other environmental and lifestyle factors.

By gently clearing away this damaged layer, the Fraxel Dual reveals the new, non-damaged skin underneath, reducing the appearance of sun damage and irregular hyperpigmentation. 

1550 Wavelength

Meanwhile, the 1550 wavelength setting treats fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars by stimulating collagen production in the deeper layers of the dermis. This essential protein keeps your skin firm and responsive. With a Fraxel Dual treatment, your strengthened collagen fibers can improve the appearance of lines and scars in a matter of weeks.
